Human Services Minister Brendan O'Connor today announced that the new community services hub in Batemans Bay will be officially known as BayLink.

Mr O'Connor congratulated local resident Lisa Bailey for her winning name and confirmed that recruitment for Department of Human Services (DHS) positions at BayLink will commence this month.

"The name BayLink really represents the purpose of this building, which is to link people in the Bay, and greater Eurobodalla shire, with a range of government and community services under one roof," Mr O'Connor said.

"Advertising of positions is about to begin for new DHS staff, who will have important roles in our service delivery arms which include Centrelink, Medicare, Child Support, CRS Australia and Australian Hearing.

"BayLink will not only provide a great range of services to residents of the Eurobodalla, but employment prospects for locals as well."

Member for Eden-Monaro, Dr Mike Kelly, said advertising for around 120 DHS positions in the BayLink facility will begin this week.

"BayLink has been specifically designed for the Eurobodalla, with a lot of input from the community, and we are really encouraging locals to see this new facility as a place of potential employment," Dr Kelly said.

"DHS is looking to fill a large number of varied Customer Service Adviser roles working from BayLink's top floor Smart Centre. These roles will focus on customer service delivery including taking enquiries and processing government payments."

Dr Kelly urged interested locals to apply for the various employment opportunities.

"Information flyers about the recruitment process and how to apply are available now in the current Centrelink, Medicare and CRS Australia service centres, the Soldiers Club and local employment providers," Dr Kelly said.

"We"d like to thank everyone who submitted naming ideas, and we look forward to working closely with the community as we gear up for BayLink to open for business in March this year."
