Medicare services for Warriewood residents are changing from Monday 4 June 2018.

All staff from the Department of Human Services Warriewood Square Service Centre are relocating to the much larger Northern Beaches Service Centre on Pittwater Road, Brookvale.

The number of people visiting the Warriewood Service Centre to complete their Medicare business has dropped by nearly 60 per cent in the past six years.

Nearly 98 per cent of all Medicare claims are lodged electronically at the point of service, which shows that claiming directly at the doctor’s surgery is the best way to claim a Medicare rebate and avoid traveling into a service centre.

People are also choosing to claim common Medicare items online through myGov and the Express Plus apps.

Bolstering Medicare services in the existing Northern Beaches Service Centre will provide the Northern Beaches community with access to Medicare and Centrelink services in one location.

People who require more intensive or personalised support will still be able to gain access to face-to-face services from staff at Northern Beaches Service Centre.

The last day of trade for Warriewood Service Centre will be Friday 1 June 2018. Northern Beaches Service Centre at 660-664 Pittwater Road is open Monday to Friday, from 8.30am to 4.30pm.
