Minister for Government Services, Stuart Robert, today said $4,593,400 has been provided in Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payments (AGDRP) and Disaster Recovery Allowance to people in bushfire affected areas. This represents a total of 3,715 claims across the affected bushfire regions in New South Wales and Queensland.
AGDRP is available to eligible people whose homes have been severely damaged or destroyed, who have been seriously injured or who have lost a family member in the fires. DRA is available for those eligible who have lost income as a direct result of the disaster event.
Minister for Government Services Stuart Robert reiterated the fastest and easiest way to claim is over the phone by calling the Australian Government Emergency Information Line on 180 22 66.
‘When it is safe to do so, I would encourage affected residents to lodge a claim for assistance, over 11,000 calls from Australians have already been answered through November’ Minister Robert said.
‘Staff from my department are processing claims as quickly as possible to ensure people have money available to meet their immediate needs. Telephone lines are open from 8:00am to 8:00pm AEDT on weekdays and 10:00am to 4:00pm over the weekend.’
Service Centre operations may continue to be affected and all sites are being monitored regularly. Mobile Service Centre Desert Rose will continue to provide support on the ground.
